Last night my group checked into their comfortable rooms at the Quality Inn in Woodstock, ON. This hotel is the pre-night HUB for all of my, “Travel With Bradley” Motor Coach Tours. The staff at this hotel was so professional and accommodating.
At 7pm our welcome dinner was served and it was just excellent. A choice of salad or butternut squash soup followed by turkey dinner with homemade dressing, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Dessert was a generous piece of pecan pie.
What a wonderful evening – enjoyed by all.
After a good rest we took our seats for a bountiful breakfast spread at the hotel then we boarded the Ayr Motor Coach for an on-time 7am Departure. Betty Sharp is our experienced driver and with no traffic we arrived at the border in good time. Betty has driven for me a number of times in the past so it was a homecoming when my passengers saw her. It was a very quick process clearing customs today.
Our break was at Cracker Barrel where I purchased a morning surprise treat for everyone, “Nashville- Goo Goo Bars”.
The fall scenery was spectacular during todays drive. The hills were blazing with colour.
At 12 noon we were warmly welcomed at, “Sorges of Corning”. This family run establishment has been in operation since 1915. The Main Street frontage features floor to ceiling windows that brings in the outside light. Our meal was delicious – crisp salad with homemade Italian dressing, a choice of 4 entrees and 2 desserts. I tasted both the chicken parm and the haddock – both were top notch.
We continued to Lewisburg, PA – a charming university town. Since we were a little early for hotel check-in we stopped at the local Walmart for a break before continuing to the charming, Country Inn and Suites – home for one night.
Everyone enjoyed their time in the adjacent – Country Cupboard Complex. Their shopping area covers an acre and the massive but homey restaurant featured a plentiful buffet – the thousand island chicken was unique – must try to find a recipe.
It’s a small world when other guests arrive at the hotel from Ontario and know some of my passengers who have assembled in the newly renovated hotel lobby to play cards.
A terrific day but the best is yet to come – we’ll soon be in Lancaster County – my 45 passengers can’t wait!
